Green Eyed Monster and $500 Video Puzzle Go Viral During Filmmakers Cross Country Trek

Los Angeles, CA (Bluehost) April 27, 2008 -- Filmmaker Gabriel Barboza hit Los Angeles for Fangoria's Weekend of Horrors at the Los Angeles Convention Center, and launched his $500 Video Puzzle viral-video campaign to spread the word about his movie Green Eyed Monster - and the $10,000 contest built into it. He's been on the road for the past two months driving from New York to Los Angeles with money raised by auctioning off ad space on a large mobile billboard truck.

The promotions kicked off late February at Texas Frightmare Weekend and he has driven from coast to coast promoting the movie, leading up to the Fangoria Convention. After hitting Los Angles, the final stop on the tour, Barboza launched the first of many Puzzle Videos related to the film as part of a viral video campaign. Keeping in line with the Armchair Treasurehunt theme of the feature film, each of the shorter videos contain clues to puzzles, and monetary prizes. The official website, http://www.greeneyedmonstermovie.com, follows the director through video-logs and blogs about his journey and displays the first of the videos - the $500 Video Puzzle.

The film is a supernatural thriller based on Hispanic folklore. A group of young friends are drawn to an abandoned ranch by rumors of hidden money. Their hunger for the money grows as the grisly history of the land threatens to consume them all.

Green Eyed Monster features a highly unique aspect. Clues leading to prizes totaling more than $10,000 can be found throughout the film.

The film was shot on a modest budget with Barboza serving as Writer, Director, Producer, and Editor. The movie itself was written around a simple premise: If an audience is watching a movie about people digging around for money why not let them dig for their own?
